Baptisms

What is Baptism?

We welcome infants, children, and adults into the Christian faith and the family of God through the sacrament of Holy Baptism.

During Baptism, candidates respond to God’s unconditional love for us by making promises to live in covenant with God. For babies and children too young to speak for themselves, their godparents and parents make vows on their behalf.

When Baptism is Offered

We celebrate baptisms during our Sunday Services, so the entire congregation can support and welcome the new members into the Christian community. Baptism is typically celebrated on the following dates (in keeping with Episcopal Church practice):

  • The Baptism of Our Lord (first Sunday in January)
  • The Great Vigil of Easter (Easter Eve)
  • The Day of Pentecost (fifty days after Easter Sunday)
  • All Saints’ Sunday (first Sunday in November)

Baptism is occasionally offered on other Sundays during the year during one of the Sunday services.

To Be Baptized at Christ Church

Interested in baptism for yourself or your child? Please contact the Rev. Nick Morris-Kliment at 781-444-1469.  We will plan one session of preparation, usually held close to the date of the baptism.
