Sharing our Resources

animal-rescueChrist Church annually funds a number of local, national, and international non-profits. This funding represents a commitment by the Vestry on behalf of the parish to share our resources within our larger community. Our Christ Church youth also select outreach projects through Church School classes and raise funds to support their chosen organization.

Community Organizations

Our Community Concerns Committee meets twice a year to select worthy non-profits and to award grants. These non-profit organizations play an important role in our community and beyond by providing people with food and assistance, housing, medical care, counseling support, and disaster relief. Recipients include: Needham Community Council, Circle of Hope, Women’s Lunch Place, Transition House, Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, Refugee Immigration Ministry, and 16 others.  The funding comes from our annual operating budget.

Youth Participation

Our Christ Church youth respond to the call to share resources within the community by selecting an outreach project or organization to support through church school. Our youngest Children’s Chapel members collect socks and mittens for Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders choose to be good stewards of our furry friends by collecting monies to support abandoned animals at the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Our 6th and 7th graders raise funds for a different charity every year through an annual fundraiser which they plan and run. Our 8th and 9th graders collect food and clothing for the homeless of Boston and distribute them during an overnight service project with Ecclesia Ministries.
