Braver Angels Workshops begin this Sunday, Oct. 27

Christ Church and First Parish are proud to present a series of three Braver Angels workshops open to the public aimed at depolarizing ourselves and our communities.

The first workshop, “Depolarizing Within” is TODAY from 1pm to 4pm in UPH. This workshop teaches participants to look at their own attitudes towards the political “other” and develop strategies for engaging in politics (without demonizing) and constructively intervening in conversations with like-minded peers when those conversations stereotype or demonize “the other side.” 

 

Through this workshop with trained facilitator Julien LaFleur, participants will be able to: 

  • Become more aware of their own “inner polarizer”
  • Critique opposing viewpoints without stereotyping, dismissing, ridiculing, and holding contempt for the people with whom they disagree
  • Develop ways to speak up in polarizing conversations with peers about people “on the other side”

Join us for the first workshop this Sunday, October 27 from 1pm to 4pm in Upper Parish Hall.  Light refreshments are offered.

Music that Makes the Community this Sunday, Oct. 20 4-6:30pm

Join Music that Makes the Community for a paperless singing circle this Sunday October 20th, 4-6:30 pm. We’ll sing a variety of simple songs with an emphasis on themes of peace and justice – and anyone is invited to lead a song of their own choosing. All ages welcome to participate.
