Pick-up Choir: A Invitation for All Ages and Talents!

Monthly this summer, people of all ages and experiences are invited to join our pick-up choir. We will meet for a brief pre-service rehearsal. We are also on the lookout for people, especially children, who’d like to showcase their musical talents during a short Offertory.

New Date for the Next Film on Race: Sunday, June 9, 4:00 to 6:30pm

Because the TV needs to be repaired, the next film and discussion in the series Facing Race: A Film Series for Christians about Racism in America has been pushed back one week. It’s now scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 4:00 to 6:30pm, in the Memorial Room. Please RSVP online.

We will be watching the one-hour documentary, The Story We Tell, which traces our country’s culture of racial hierarchy to the phrase, “all men are created equal,” from the Declaration of Independence. Should be a great discussion!

One goal of the film series is to help us understand racism – in all its forms. Through listening and discussion, we hope to explore how Jesus may be calling us to respond. Please plan to join us and please RSVP online.

PEOPLE OF COLOR WHO INSPIRE:  SUNDAY , JULY 7

Join us this summer as we connect Christ Church’s ongoing commitment to learning about and working for racial justice with Godly Play’s People of Color Who Inspire stories to explore how faith and justice have come together to inform the work of important figures throughout history.  Sunday, July 7 we will meet in the Memorial Room after Lemonade Hour to hear the story of Harriet Tubman. 

• Sunday, July 7 & Sunday, August 11: Join us following Lemonade Hour in the Memorial Room to hear the stories of Harriet Tubman (7/7) and Rep. John Lewis (8/11) and wonder about their lives together in supported small groups.
• Sunday, July 28 & Sunday, August 25: Join us on the patio from 5-6:30pm for worship, fellowship, and to share the stories of Bishop Barbara Harris (7/28) and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (8/25).
