Members of the Parish reflect on each of Jesus’ last words from the Cross. In a rhythm of Word, reflection, song and silence, we sit with Jesus as he dies on the Cross. We ponder the meaning of this violent death for us and for our world.

This service invites participants to travel Jesus’ path to the Cross and on to the Resurrection using all of our senses. Listen to the clang of the hammer, taste the salt of tears, and rejoice at His rising. This service is suitable for people of all ages, from pre-readers to grandparents.

An opportunity for prayer and quiet reflection before images of the 14 traditional stations of the Cross, plus the Resurrection. Images are from the “Way of the Cross” painted by southwestern artist Ettore DeGrazia.

We remember Jesus’ last meal with his disciples, and his command to “do this in remembrance of me,” establishing the Eucharist as a primary worship practice to deepen love of God and neighbor. “Maundy”is from the Latin word for “command” or “mandate.”

PALM SUNDAY || March 24

We move from jubilation to horror as we recall Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem for his last week. For many who cannot worship on Good Friday, the Palm Sunday Passion is the primary liturgical reminder of the depth of Jesus’ agony, the suffering in our own lives and the wider world.

MAUNDY THURSDAY || March 28

Portrait In Jazz is a dynamic, original jazz band featuring leader Brad Ellenberg: guitar and Gary Bohan:trumpet/flugelhorn, Chris Hildebrand: saxophone, Bob Abruzese: bass, Grant Smith: drums and vocalist: Deirdre Pedersen .

It’s wonderful to see musicians committed to creating fresh, meaningful jazz music from the rich tapestry of the American Songbook. With over fifty original compositions and a vast selection of jazz standards, they’re undoubtedly dedicated to both preserving the tradition of jazz while also innovating with their own unique creations.

Our Haiti Partnership with the Lazil Community

Members of the Christ Church community have been engaged in Haiti over the past 20 years. The work is primarily with the small rural mountain community of Lazil, three hours from Port-au-Prince.

Our involvement with the rural community of Lazil has included:

• Ongoing financial support for St. Luc’s elementary school
• Ongoing financial support for a whole-community music program
• Launching a goat-raising program for the community
• Medical missions and support
