The Job: With the supervision of the Rector, the primary role of the Lead Church School Teacher will be working with the children of our parish and their families, including teaching Church School every other Sunday morning. Other responsibilities are administrative, including communicating & connecting with the parish at large about Church school programming, and supporting & designing activities for children at both Church School and Parish-wide events. The successful candidate will be part of a collegial team of volunteer teachers and on-site staff comprised of the Manager of Parish Operations, Minister of Music, Facilities Manager, and Assisting Sexton.
The Person: Our ideal candidate is a thoughtful Christian of any tradition who can lead and teach in an inclusive Episcopal church with integrity; a Christian who loves learning and loves all the questions that children ask; a good communicator (in person and in emails) with a sense of humor and flexibility; someone who enjoys being around children and young people and has some experience working with them outside the home. Technical skills required: Google Suite, MS Office Suite, comfort with Constant Contact or similar email program.
The Hours and Pay: This is a salaried position August through June (no work in July), 10 hours/week, including 2 Sundays a month. The distribution of hours through the Church year is flexible. The position pays $11,750 per year, which is $25/hour. The role does not require attendance on Christmas Eve or Christmas but does require attendance on Easter Sunday morning.
Other Requirements: Once hired, employees get CORI and SORI background checks every three years according to Diocesan policies and will undergo online training modules as part of the diocese-wide Safe Church program.
