CHRISTMAS PARTY — COME AND CELEBRATE!

GIVE TO GIVING TREE

Giving TreeThe annual Christmas Giving Tree is festooned with tags ready for you to choose. All gifts need to be under the tree by Sunday, December 18, so that we can deliver them to the women and children of Shepherd House, a program for women in recovery, and at Transition House, a battered women’s shelter, by Monday, December 19, in time to bring a bit of Christmas cheer.

ST. NICHOLAS SHOE & BOOT DRIVE
In honor of St. Nicholas Day on December 6, Christ Church is sponsoring a shoe and boot drive to benefit Circle of Hope. Through December 11, we’re collecting new sneakers and winter boots, especially in toddler and children’s sizes. Donations can be dropped in the “shoe box” located in Upper Parish Hall (Monday-Friday, 9-2 pm) or at Circle of Hope next door at 65 Rosemary Street during drop-off hours (Monday-Thursday & Saturday 9-11 am, and Tuesday & Wednesday 3-5 pm). BLANKETS FOR THE HOMELESS
homeless-manThe MANNA leadership group at the Cathedral in Boston has asked the Christ Church shelter cooking group and the clothing closet group to help purchase Mylar blankets for the homeless community we serve at the Monday Lunch Program at the Cathedral in Boston.  The cost of the blankets is only about 80¢ each, so a little money goes a long way! To donate, please see Debby Rempis at coffee hour, or mail or drop off your donation to the church office by December 11. (Please make checks out to Christ Church and put MANNA Blanket Drive on the memo line.)

CATHEDRAL CLOTHING CLOSET NEEDS HELP

As part of our deepening ministry to the homeless and other guests at MANNA’s Monday Lunch, volunteers provide fellowship and warm clothing to adults spending most of their time on the streets this winter. We always need warm clothing and outerwear, but this December, we also need:

  • socksTravel-size toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel and deodorant
  • Backpacks, carry-on size luggage and gym bags.
  • New thermal socks

Please leave any donations in the bin in Upper Parish Hall through December 18. We will be distributing clothing to guests on December 5 and December 19 during Monday lunch, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. If you would like to join us in this ministry of friendship, even just once, please contact Myra Anderson at myra.anderson@comcast.net.

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

Manger GraphicThe annual Christmas Pageant will take place at 4pm on Christmas Eve as part of our family service. All children of the Parish and visiting guests are welcome to participate. We will need to fill these roles: two narrators, Mary and Joseph, three kings, two head angels and an unlimited number of other angels, shepherds and animals. There will be a sign-up sheet in Upper Parish Hall until the Sunday before Christmas, when we distribute costumes after the 10 am service in Lower Parish Hall. There is no formal rehearsal, but we do ask you to be in Lower Parish Hall by 3:15 pm on Christmas Eve. Questions? A call has also gone out for costumes that can be used for animals, angels, kings and shepherds. For more informaiton about the pageant, or to donate a costumer, please contact Nancy Sterling at nsterling@mlstrategies.com, or Ann Lyons at annlyons24@yahoo.com.
